WOOHOOO
this site is now hosted on my nodes at VPS.net, personally i noticed a big speed improvement, hopefully using Aegir Drupal Hosting software helps make my drupal site management easier and more pain free along with getting more resources available to do more here π
i hope the readership (i think its just me!) enjoys the improvement, hopefully this means real content will start adorning these pages soon, need to talk about my studies at some point!
if you are thinking of getting VPS.net, i can wholeheartedly recommend it, in fact if you do decide to get it, help a student out by using my referral link:

Congratualtions on the VPS.net launch-ness.
Are you using Aegir to manage multiple sites? Or is just making your life easier on this one site?
Hi Anthony, we briefly chatted on Twitter the other day regarding setting up a VPS.net server. I have a question and wondered if you would be able to help ?
What monitoring tools do you use to evaluate your website in terms of speeds and performance ? also how do you know when your site is under heavy load so you can respond with more nodes ?
I use to work for Gomez (gomez.com) who specialised in proactive monitoring tools but these are not cheap.
Any help would be awesome, thanks
HI shane
i use site-perf.com and tools.pingdom.com to monitor site speeds. in terms of adapting node count on load you can use server density, i dont use this at the moment as most sites are on servers that have lots of spare resources or optimised so that increase traffic would only have a minimal impact.
for monitoring i use pingdom and make use of there advanced HTTP calls to detect when either mysql is down or load is high etc as well as apache

Thanks ever so much for the comments. Most definitely speak soon. Cheers
